What are you meant to do and accomplished in life? What are you naturally attracted to? What is it you do that gives you sense of purpose?
Whatever it is, that is your life’s Task! Discover it and stick to it.
Unfortunately, most of us ended up doing tasks that were not meant for us.
Most of us aren’t happy at the jobs we are doing presently.
You know why?
Because, when you were thinking about things to do for the rest of our life, you got parted with your life’s task. You directly or indirectly (as a result of external forces) choose the wrong task.
See your life’s task as what God has created you to do and become and to know it, you need to listen to the inner voice, force inside you. Because if you do not, external voices and forces will choose a task for you.
We are all unique being. Our exact genetic makeup hasn’t occurred before nor will it ever occur again.
What were you inclined to do when you were younger?
See how Robert Greene put it;
At your birth a seed is planted. That seed is your uniqueness. Your life’s task is to bring that seed to flower, to express your uniqueness through your work. It is your destiny to fulfill.
See this seed as a force, or voice inside you that want to be heard. If you did not become what you were created for, some forces were in play.
What weakens this force is the degree to which you have succumbed to another force (counterforce) in life, which may be one or combination of; peer pressure, social pressure and parental pressure. When you allow the counter forces to overcome you, you can loose complete contact with your uniqueness, who you really are. Then your inclination become modeled on those of others.
This probably made you choose the wrong career. Your desire and interest slowly wane and your work suffers for it. And because you are increasingly less engaged in your career, you fail to pay attention to changes going on in the field. At moment when you must make vital decisions, you follow what others are doing because you have no sense of inner direction.
This happens when you broken contact with your destiny as formed at birth.
At all cost, avoid this kind of fate. The hidden force is always inside you, let it out.
What to do?
- Connect with your sense of uniqueness and search for signs of the inner voice.
- Look at the career path you are already on or about to begin. Is it something you enjoy doing? Are you doing it because of pressure from peers and parents?
If you do not love what you are doing presently, it’s not meant for you!
See your career as a journey with twists and turns rather than a straight line. To be successful and attain mastery at whatever you do, it must be your life’s task.
“The misery that oppresses you lies not in your profession but in yourself! What man in the world would not find his situation intolerable if he chooses a craft, an art, indeed any form if life, without experiencing an inner calling? Whoever is born with a talent, or to a talent, must surely find in that the most pleasing of occupations! Everything on this earth has its difficult sides! Only some inner drive – pleasure, love – can help us overcome obstacles, prepare a path, and lift us out of the narrow circle in which others tread out their anguished existence! – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
